How Siplo handles your information — in plain language.

The short version

Siplo collects almost nothing about you. There’s no account to create in this version, we don’t track you, and we don’t sell your data.

What stays on your device

Your saved routes and spots, your preferences (like your default maps app), your age confirmation, and a record of routes you’ve unlocked are stored on your device — not on our servers.

Purchases

Paid routes are bought through Apple’s In-App Purchase. Apple and our payments provider process the purchase so we can unlock and restore it. We never see your card details.

Content and live venue info

Route and venue content loads from our servers. Live details such as opening hours and ratings are fetched, through our server, from Google Places using a venue’s public identifier — never anything about you. Map tiles are served by MapTiler.

Location

If you allow it, Siplo uses your device location — only while you’re using the app — to show where you are on the map. That location stays on your device to centre the map: we don’t store it, send it to our servers, or track you. Tapping “Start” hands the route to Apple or Google Maps, which then applies its own settings.

Analytics

We don’t use analytics or advertising trackers in this version. If that ever changes, we’ll update this page first.

Age

Siplo is intended for people of legal drinking age (19 or older in Ontario) and is not directed at children.

Other services

Apple, our payments provider, our backend host, Google and MapTiler each handle data under their own privacy policies. We only share what’s needed to run the features above.

Changes

If we update this policy we’ll change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
